⎯ The Artist

Shaho draws the way
others hold their breath.

Born in the foothills of Uzbekistan, Shaho began drawing on the inside of schoolbooks at the age of seven. He has not lifted the pen since at least not in the way most people do.

His practice is rooted in the discipline of continuous line: the pen meets the paper, and the image must be born from that single, uninterrupted gesture. A whale, a tree, a memory of a sheep each one a single thought, made visible.

The seventeen works in this room were drawn between November MMXXIII and February MMXXV, always between midnight and four.
